Learn more about what makes Senior Move Managers unique and how our commitment to ensuring client safety and satisfaction sets us above the rest.
It depends. Every client situation is different. The more “stuff” you have, the longer it will take. Some of our clients make quick decisions on what they want to do with their belongings, while others it takes longer to decide what’s important to them. We also have clients that just need to be packed, moved and unpacked and others that needs downsizing and decluttering to home cleanout to ensure the house is ready for sale.
Providing packing services for older adults does not make a mover a senior move manager (SMM). The SMM’s expertise is in working hand-in-hand (literally!) with seniors, a dedicated staff, a focus on the client and not their belongings, responsiveness to the priorities of referring sources, and communication with multiple constituencies (adult children/grandchildren/senior living staff, etc).
Remember, that many times, when an older adult is downsizing, the move is the smallest part of the process. SMMs work to sort and downsize their client before the actually packing and moving begins. And SMM’s will completely resettle the client, meaning all boxes are unpacked, curtains and pictures hung, beds made etc. The client’s new home is completely set up before the client arrives to the new residence.
Movers, on the other hand, work in conjunction with Senior Move Managers to transport the client’s belongings from the old residence to the new residence.
Though we take into account every client’s individual needs, we prevent move days from extending beyond 6-8 hours.
Yes, your Senior Move Manager will be present when the mover packs and unloads.
We take extreme caution to ensure circulation paths are clear in order to prevent slips and falls. We are also sensitive to the needs of our clients who may be hard of hearing, suffer from physical disabilities or experience short-term memory loss. We understand that moving can be a chaotic process, so we do our best to simplify and streamline so everything is kept in order.
